The enormous spectrum of podcasts produced now, since my last book was published, is astonishing. Two weeks ago I was interviewed by Arizona-based The God Show. A week after that I was interviewed by Wisconsin-based Freethought Radio, hosted by the Presidents of the US Freedom From Religion Foundation.
It was The God Show host, Pat McMahon, nonagenarian media extraordinaire and committed catholic, who straight out asked me if I was anti-catholic. He said he couldn’t tell from reading my book.
I told him I want to see corrupt institutions brought to justice. I also said that I had interviewed many survivors who ended our conversation by saying, “God bless you.” It was a gesture of kindness and love I was always happy to receive.
McMahon has been making radio in the US for decades. In fact, it’d be hard to find someone who’s been doing it longer. He was a delight.
If you prefer a bit of unabashed atheism, listen to Dan Barker and Annie Laurie Gaylor’s Freethought Radio. They were compassionate, engaged, and excellent interviewers. Our episode is below. Or check out the one following that features unheard audio from iconoclast and author of God is Still Not Great, Christopher Hitchens.
We discuss some troubling state/church news (and a few victories) in New Jersey, California, Texas, Indiana, Arkansas, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Oklahoma. FFRF attorney Liz Cavell describes the Groff v. DeJoy case before the Supreme Court that will likely extend religious privilege in the workplace. Then we hear a voice from the past, the never-before-played "God is not Great" speech by Christopher Hitchens at FFRF's 2007 convention
